Birthday girl!

My little Taya is 4! This completely blows my mind. Oh how i love this girl. She is my little sunshine, she brightens my day. Taya is so sweet, loving, silly, spicy, energetic, entertaining, playful, cuddly, imaginative....i could go on forever. I am so lucky that she chose me to be her mamma!

Taya knew for months that she wanted to have a unicorn-rainbow birthday party, so i had my good friend Jessie whip up these cute invites for me.
We decided to have her birthday party in St George, since it would be one of the last times we'd see some of our friends and family before we'd have to leave. And we have this tradition of having every birthday party at the same park every year, which is nice because everyone knows where it is and they don't get lost haha! But since Taya's actual birthday was during the week we had a little party for her at our house where she opened her presents from us and had her own little cake, with just Dan, Brennan and I.

In the morning before she woke up i blew up a couple packages of light pink balloons (did you know your cheeks could actually bruise?? I didn't). Light pink, her favorite color. On birthdays and other occasions i do every little thing i can to make it feel like a special day. The floor of our house was covered in pink balloons, and she had to walk through them to come out of her room in the morning. As you'll learn, i need to be so much better at remembering to take pictures, but it was awesome i promise.

This is a brief look at Taya excitedly opening her presents. Brief because it was actually an accidental filming, and thats all i've got. Enjoy!

Then we headed down to the sunshine south for the big one!
I wish i could beat myself right now, because I DIDN'T TAKE PICTURES OF THE CAKE! or cupcakes. Or anything else. It was so crazy, i just kept thinking i'd take a picture in a couple of minutes, and then they were gone. I was up until about 1:00 the night before making her cake and cupcakes, and to toot my own horn (toot toot!), they were so cute!! I made Taya her own personal cake with a pink unicorn with curly yellow hair, standing in the grass and flowers with a blue sky and sun. And for everyone else i had cupcakes with blue frosting and a rainbow with puffy clouds on each one.

We had great turnout! It was so good to see all of our wonderful family and friends. They are all so great. It was kind of bittersweet seeing everyone and realizing what amazing friends and family we have, and knowing that i wasn't going to be seeing them again for a long time. But it was a great day!

Here are some of the few pictures i got, and that was only because someone else grabbed our camera and snapped a couple. (picture my hand smacking my forehead right now!)

This is us and my family. The kids were so happy to take pictures ;). But it was so good to be with them and everyone else!

So at 4 years old, this is Taya:

She has a huge imagination! Any random household object will become a toy, and will have an elaborate story weaved up around it.

She is super loving to her toys, she calls them her babies and they all have beds and get tucked in with dish towels all over our house. If you accidentally disturb one, be ready for trouble.

She loves her stuffed animals and treats them like babies, but doesn't like dolls at all.

She loves preschool! It makes her feel so big. She wont even let me walk her to the door. I just have to stand by the truck and watch her walk in all by herself. I have seen her grow so much socially, mentally, in her attention span...etc. since starting, it has been good for her.

She is loves art! She always amazes us with how well she can draw things. She says she wants to be an artist when she grows up. She got art supplies and an art desk from us for her birthday and she puts them to good use and is continually improving. Our fridge is covered in 'art'.

She is completely left brained. Creative, hands on, imaginative. Like me. But hates to sit down and learn, unless it involves creating something.

She runs into our bedroom at least once or twice every night. She hates to be alone.

She is still wearing 2T clothing most of the time, and is 27 pounds.

She loves to be outside and explore. She thinks it is a sad day that it is starting to get cold!

She loves animals. We cant have any real pets, but she has a hermit crab and a couple of snails thats we found outside. She takes such good care of them.

She loves to snuggle with her blanket and watch movies with us. She loves when we are all snuggled on the couch, and she likes to be squeezed right in between Dan and I.

She eats like a bird.

She loves books and being read to. One of her favorite things is when i take her to the library and we sit in the big bean bags and read every book she can find.

She is still a complete princess (think makeup, pretty hair, crowns, fingernails painted, dress up clothes...) while also being a complete tom-boy at the same time. (think bugs, snails, getting dirty, sharks, dinosaurs, making toys fight each other...) Once again, like me.

She absolutely loves our families. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. Loves them. Misses them.

She is allergic to something, but we cant figure out what exactly. She breaks out in severe, itchy, swollen hives randomly, and our doctor told us not to worry about it. But still, we worry.

She likes for me to sing to her at night. I sing her lullabys that my mom sang to me. You are my sunshine is her favorite, i sang that to her that all the time when she was in my belly.

She had a rotten streak from about 3 1/2 to 4. But now she has suddenly turned back in an angel. Really, so sweet all the time :).

We LOVE our little Taya so much and are so blessed to have her in our family!
