Year 5.

Happy Anniversary to us! It has been 5 years, and i LOVE him more every year! (I think thats a good sign) I am so thankful for such a wonderful man to share my life with. Dan is so hardworking and is an amazing Dad. Im very lucky!

This year, we decided to do something special. We've never really done anything for our anniversary in the past, just gone to dinner or something...with our kids lol. But this year i insisted on sneaking in a little gettaway, and we loved it. While we were down south for Taya's party (see previous post), we left the kids with my parents and snuck away to Vegas for a couple of days. We had an awesome big suite at the MGM signature hotel, it was beautiful! We had amazing food, rode roller coasters, and had so much fun together.

I have to say, getting away is soooo important in a marriage. Especially ours, because Dan works so much and when he is home it is always just kid/family time. We don't even go on dates by ourselves. (One of the many drawbacks of living away from family, no babysitters.) We get so caught up in fulfilling our specific family roles; cooking, cleaning, work, kids, that we are really oblivious to each other. It seems we kind of come and go and make the family work together, but we a lot of the time forget to notice each other, and all of the things that we love about the other person. We fell in love for a reason right? Well we got away, and it was amazing. I felt like my eyes were opened to this person that I've always loved, but kind of took for granted. He is amazing! And funny, and sweet, and i love his smile and the way he laughs and all those little things that swept me off my feet in the first place. It was so good for us, and so fun to be by OURSELVES!! Love love those kiddos, but we have got to start making this an annual thing. Every 6 months get away for a night? Sounds good?
